Two people were killed in a violent crash that had police close a major roadway in Monmouth County for several hours overnight.
Emergency repsonders were dispatched to the vicinity of 3468 U.S. 9 to investigate reports of a crash with injuries around 10:35 p.m.
Upon arrival, police found two individuals trapped inside an overturned and badly damaged vehicle at that location.
Freehold Township Police said both unidentified victims were pronounced dead at the scene.
The cause of the collision is under investigation.
