Performer Troy Gentry One of Two Men Killed in Lumberton Helicopter Crash

Lumberton Township

Troy Gentry, a member of a country music duo, has been identified as one of two people killed in a helicopter crash in Lumberton Township Friday afternoon.

According to police, officers received a call of a helicopter in distress sometime around 1 p.m.

Shortly after, police found the Schweitzer 269 helicopter in a wooded area near Runway 1 at the airport.

Although it's unclear exactly how many people were inside the helicopter officials did say one adult male was rescued but eventually died from injuries at Virtua Hospital Marlton.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. His body is expected to be extricated.

The Montgomery Gentry duo was scheduled to perform tonight at the Flying W Airport & Resort in Medford.

The crash is under investigation by the FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board.
