Police took two teenagers into custody and charged them with attempted car theft on the campus of NJIT in Newark's Central Ward on Thursday.
It happed around 7:55 p.m. near the intersection of New and Hudson streets.
According to a preliminary investigation, several observant people in the area watched, then called police when two juveniles attempted to break into a vehicle at that location.
Police arrived and found the suspects, who witnesses positively identified.
Police processed the pair during the investigation.
