Two Injured in Separate Overnight Shootings in Newark

Authorities in Newark are investigating overnight shootings in the city that injured two people.

Shortly before 9:30 p.m. in the city's West Ward, police responded to shots fired that rang out in the 30's block of West End Avenue.

Police arrived to the scene where they found a male victim reportedly suffering a gunshot injury to the head.

EMS transported the victim to University Hospital where he was expected to survive from his injury.

A shooting in the area of Springfield Avenue and 16th Street had officer set up a crime scene where they searched for evidence after a male victim was transported by private vehicle to the hospital suffering a gunshot injury to the knee.

The victim's injury was not considered life threatening.

There were no arrests reported in either shootings.

A shooting victim admitted to University Hospital on Friday afternoon at around 3 p.m. had police investigating the teens block of Goldsmith Avenue for evidence. The victim's injuries were not reported to be life threatening.
