Two Injured in Newark South 19th Street Car Crash

Police in Newark are investigating a car crash that happened in the city's West Ward on Saturday night. 

The two-vehicle collision happened near the intersection of South 19th Street and Springfield Avenue around 10:15 p.m. 

Police say emergency responders arrived at the scene they found both severely damaged vehicle with occupants trapped inside one of the cars at that location. 

Newark Firefighters and University Hospital Resue crew were able to free the occupants then hand them over to EMS, who transported them to the hospital for treatment. 

Police say one of the victims suffered a serious head injury while the other victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
