Two Injured in Early Morning Shooting in Jersey City

Detectives in Jersey City are investigating a double shooting that left two women injured early Wednesday morning as authorities work to determine a motive and identify the person or persons responsible.

 

The incident unfolded at approximately 1:45 a.m. in the 70s block of Rutgers Street after police received reports of shots fired in the neighborhood.

 

Responding officers arrived and found two women suffering from gunshot wounds. 

One of the victims was struck multiple times, while the second woman sustained a gunshot wound to the leg.
 

Both victims were transported to Jersey City Medical Center for treatment. 

Authorities said the victims’ injuries did not initially appear to be life-threatening.

 

The Jersey City Police Department is leading the active and ongoing investigation. No arrests have been announced and additional information was not immediately released.
