Two people were injured after a truck overturned on a car near Route 22 in Union Township Sunday morning.

According to Hillside fire officials, at approximately 10:30 a.m., Hillside Emergency responders were dispatched to Bloy Street and Route West for a crash with trapped occupants inside a vehicle.

Upon arrival, fire officials said they found the two-vehicle crashed.  A car collided with a commercial box truck with extensive damage, which caused an airbag deployment, and the truck overturned.

Hillside fire officials said firefighters jumped into action and immediately went to work and stretched a dry handline for fire precaution.

According to fire officials, two patients were removed from both vehicles and transported to an area hospital for non-fatal injuries.

Officials say a Union County Hazmat team arrived on the scene and used Speedy Dry with damming technique to prevent the fluid spill from entering sewer waterways.

Hillside Police will handle the investigation into what caused the crash.
