Two Hospitalized After Being Struck by Vehicles in Newark; Separate Vehicle Crashes also Reported Around City

Two separate incidents where pedestrians were stuck by vehicles in Newark has police investigating.

The first incident happened at around 9:35 p.m. in the area of Hawthorne Avenue and Fabyan Place in the city's South Ward where police and EMS were called to the scene for a person struck by a vehicle at that location.

Units arrived to find one person suffering injuries after a car struck the victim. EMS transported the victim to University Hospital according to reports.

Over in the city's West Ward at around 10:45 p.m., a person struck by a vehicle in the area of South Orange Avenue and Maybaum had EMS transport the victim to University Hospital.

The victims' injuries were not reported to be life threatening.

Police are also investigating two separate crashes that sent victims to the hospital in the city.

At around 8:30 p.m. on Bergen Street and Nye Avenue, EMS rushed one person to University Hospital suffering a serious head injury resulting from a crash that happened at that location.

Shortly before 11 p.m. in the area of South Orange Avenue and Sanford Avenue, a crash with several people injured sent first responders to the scene where EMS transported about three people to University Hospital suffering non-life threatening injuries.

Both crashes are being investigated by Newark Police.
