Two Garbage Trucks from Same Company Collide in Newark, Drivers Injured

A late-night crash involving two garbage trucks from the same private sanitation company sent both drivers to the hospital in Newark, according to a statement released by the Newark Police Department.

The collision occurred around 11:58 p.m. on Thursday, May 22, near the intersection of Wilson Avenue and Routes 1 & 9 South.

Authorities said both trucks were approaching the intersection when one vehicle side-swiped the other, causing it to overturn.

The second truck continued on and struck a tree before coming to a stop.

Emergency crews responded quickly to the scene. Both drivers were transported to University Hospital, where they were treated for injuries and are reported to be in stable condition.

No other vehicles were involved in the incident, and no additional injuries have been reported.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
