Two Dead in Belmar House Fire

An investigation is underway into a fire that broke out inside a house that left two people -reportedly a father and son - dead overnight in Belmar.

Heavy fire ignited in a two and a half family house located at 212 14th Avenue shortly after 9:30 p.m. sending firefighters from several municipalities to the scene where crews noticed heavy smoke and fire coming from the house upon their arrival.

Firefighters battled intense flames that ripped through the house and caused occupants to become trapped according to reports.

Two men were pulled from the house and later pronounced dead.

It took firefighters a little over an hour to bring the blaze under control.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
