Two Buildings Destroyed in Raging Two-Alarm Newark Fire

Two homes were destroyed during a raging fire that occurred in a neighborhood in Newark Tuesday night.

According to preliminary reports, firefighters were notified of a fire that ignited inside a house in the 200 block of North 5th Street at approximately 11:10 p.m.

Crews arrived and found a fully involved fire tearing through a home that extended to at least two others according to fire officials.

Newark firefighters were able to get control over the fast-moving fire, but it was too late to save two of the homes after fire gutted the structure, causing them to collapse.

There were no severe injuries reported and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
