Two Arrested in Plainfield Police Drug Sweep

Police Division’s Criminal Investigations Bureau Narcotic/VICE Section executed a Superior Court Search Warrant at 301 Richmond Street Apartment #2B Plainfield.

Police say the search warrant was the result of a one-month long investigation, conducted by Detective Michael Metz, into the distribution of cocaine by the alleged target, Mr.Juan Gonzalez, 36 of Plainfield.

Prior to the execution of the search warrant,

Police say Gonzalez was observed conducting a narcotic transaction with another male, Luis Rodriguez-Gutierrez, 31 of Somerset in the 100 block of North Avenue.

According to police both suspects were detained and found to be in possession of cocaine.

Police say they found Gonzalez in possession of cash.

Police arrested both men as they executed the search warrant.

According to police, during the search, members of the Narcotic/VICE Section seized over 14 ounces of cocaine and over $22,000.00 in cash, along with narcotic packaging materials.

Police charged Gonzalez with Possession of CDS, Distribution of CDS and Possession of CDS with the intent to distribute over 5 ounces (1st Degree).

Gonzalez was held in lieu of bail. Rodriguez-Gutierrez was charged with Possession of CDS and was released from custody.
