Two Arrested in Newark Road Rage Aggravated Assault

Police took two individuals into custody after a Thursday night road rage attack in Newark's downtown. 

A preliminary investigation indicated that NJ Transit Police came across a vehicle crash in the area of 74 Nesbitt Street at 10:40 p.m. and then notified Newark Police. 

Police learned that occupants in two vehicles engaged in a verbal confrontation near the intersection of Halsey and New streets. 

The suspects reportedly followed the victim to  Nesbitt Street, where they purposely crashed into their car, causing injuries. 

EMS treated the victim at the scene for non-life threatening injuries while police launched an investigation. 

Police are trying to determine what initiated the altercation.
