Two Arrested for Illegal Dumping in Newark

Newark

Officials announced the arrest of Delancy Burwell, 46, and Terrence Eley, 48, both of Newark for an incident of illegal dumping yesterday.

According to authorities, at approximately 10:40 a.m., a member of the Newark Code Enforcement Bureau observed two men unloading large black plastic bags from the rear of a yellow box truck in the area of Chelsea Avenue, near South Orange Avenue.

Members of the Illegal Dumping Task Force responded to the area and the two men, Burwell and Eley, were arrested and charged with illegal dumping and illegal transport of solid waste.

Officials said the plastic bags contained household garbage, plastic covers and pieces of white boards. The box truck contained furniture, roofing shingles, gas containers and other bulk materials. The vehicle used to transport the dumped materials was towed and is subject to seizure by forfeiture.

These charges are merely accusations. Each suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
