Authorities in Hudson County took two suspects in custody who were wanted for catalytic converter thefts in the region during the overnight hours.
Just before midnight, police responded to reports of suspicious individuals in the 1100 block of 11th Street in North Bergen.
Several police units canvassed the scene and were told by witnesses that the suspects were driving around casings cars in the area.
Officers began a search for a gray Chevy Cruz occupied by two suspects who they believed were attempting to steal catalytic converters.
Police say the suspects were located on Jefferson Street in West New York a short time later.
Authoritites believe that the suspects are responsible for a string of thefts but are continuing to investigate.
