Two-Alarm Fired Destroys Elizabeth Home

Firefighters in Elizabeth battled a raging fire that destroyed a house in the city on Monday night.

According to fire officials, the stubborn blaze ignited inside of a two-story house located at 419 Grier Avenue at approximately 9:25 p.m.

Officials say more than a dozen firefighters arrived at the scene where they observed intense flames coming from the roof of the structure.

Firefighters stretched several lines in their attack of the fire that lasted under an hour, according to officials.

A search of the homes for trapped and injured occupants came back negative and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
