A late-night boating accident in Toms River sent two people to the hospital after a high-speed crash on the water, prompting a large emergency response and multiple medical helicopter flights.
The incident occurred near the 100 block of Silver Bay Road shortly after 11 p.m. Saturday.
Initial reports indicated one male victim suffered an isolated head injury and was unconscious, prompting a trauma alert and transport by Hackensack Air Med 2 to Jersey Shore University Medical Center.
A second medical helicopter, JeffStat-4, was also dispatched to transport another victim who sustained injuries in the same boating accident.
Officials later reported that the second victim’s injuries were considered non-life-threatening before being flown to Jersey Shore University Medical Center for treatment.
Authorities have not released the circumstances surrounding the high-speed boating crash or identified those involved.
The incident remains under investigation.
