Travelers passing through Newark Liberty International Airport may soon see some relief, as federal action is expected to restore pay for TSA workers following months of financial disruption that contributed to staffing shortages and long lines.

According to reporting by Reuters, the executive order backed by Donald Trump is aimed at addressing mounting pressure from ongoing funding challenges that left many federal workers, including TSA agents, without consistent pay.

The situation led to increased absenteeism nationwide, with major travel hubs like Newark feeling the effects.

At Newark Liberty, passengers have reported extended wait times at security checkpoints, particularly during peak travel hours, as fewer agents were available to staff screening lanes.

While the expected pay restoration could encourage some TSA workers to return, officials have not confirmed how quickly staffing levels will rebound.

Questions also remain about whether this move represents a lasting solution or a temporary fix tied to short-term funding measures from Congress.

Experts caution that without a broader, long-term agreement in Washington, disruptions could continue or resurface, leaving airports like Newark vulnerable to ongoing operational challenges.
