Truck Fatally Strikes Scooter Driver in Newark

Essex County officials reported that the Essex County Prosecutor’s Crime Scene Investigations Bureau (CSIB) is investigating a scooter-vehicle collision in Newark this morning that left one man dead.

Police said at about 7 a.m., police were notified of a scooter-vehicle collision on the 700 block of Frelinghuysen Avenue near the intersection of Whittier Place in Newark.

The driver of the electric scooter, Mr. Marcus Vinicus Pires DeCruz, 36, of Newark, was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:22 a.m.

Witnesses told RLS Media that the truck was making a K-Turn on the busy road when the collision occurred. 

The investigation is active and ongoing.

No arrests have been made.
