Truck Drivers Injured in I-78 Crash in Newark

NJ State Police officials are looking into the cause of a truck crash that injured a driver Friday morning. 

 

According to a statement released by NJ State Police, the crash was reported around 8:05 a.m. in the eastbound express lanes near milepost 57.5 in Newark. 

Police said a trash hauler and a cab of a truck collided on the highway, causing the hauler to overturn, pinning the driver inside. 

 

State Police officials said the driver was extricated, sustained severe injuries and was rushed to University Hospital for treatment. Police say the driver of the other cab was also taken to University Hospital in stable condition. 

 

Troopers shut down the express lanes for the crash investigation and traffic was diverted to the local lanes.
