Troopers Revive Man on the NJ Turnpike in Mercer County

Mercer County

Trooper II Charles Travis and Trooper Ryan Sleva, of Troop "D" Cranbury Station, used CPR to revive a 74-year-old man southbound on the New Jersey Turnpike in East Windsor Township, Mercer County earlier today.

According to police, at approximately 3:02 a.m., the troopers responded to the report of an unconscious man inside of a parked car at milepost 67.7.

A family member stopped at that location when he noticed that the victim lost consciousness and stopped breathing. When Troopers Travis and Sleva arrived, the victim was not breathing and had no pulse.

As a result, troopers removed the victim from the car, placed him on the ground, attached automated external defibrillator (AED) pads to his chest, and began CPR.

After several minutes of CPR, the victim regained a pulse and started to breathe. Robert Wood Johnson paramedics and local first responders arrived shortly after the call and continued to provide first aid.

The victim was transported by ambulance to Robert Wood Johnson Hospital in Hamilton Township where he was last listed as in critical, but stable condition.
