Trooper Pulls Suicidal Man from Driscoll Bridge

Woodbridge Township

Troopers were dispatched to a motorist aid southbound on the Driscoll Bridge portion of the Garden State Parkway in Woodbridge Township, Middlesex County on Sunday, July 14, according to reports.

Police said that when Trooper Ryan Mcgoorty arrived, he observed a 45-year-old man standing on the shoulder in front of his vehicle looking over the edge of the bridge.

While speaking to the man, Tpr. Mcgoorty determined that he was distraught and was contemplating jumping off of the bridge, reports say.

Tpr. Mcgoorty made a determination that he needed to take action in order to save the man’s life. He quickly pulled the man from the edge of the bridge and escorted him to his troop car, according to reports.

A short time later, Woodbridge EMS arrived on scene and transported the man to an area hospital for further treatment, reports say.
