Trooper Charged with DWI for On-Duty Crash

Authorities today announced that an on-duty state trooper has been charged with driving while intoxicated.

The 28 year veteran, Sgt. First Class Michael Roadside, was working a construction detail shortly before crashing his police cruiser into another vehicle while under the influence of alcohol.

Roadside was suspended Tuesday without pay.

He was charged with driving while intoxicated, careless driving and having an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle, authorities said.

Authorities said that in addition to criminal charges, an internal investigation is being conducted.
