NJ Transit officials are investigating a train strike that left a trespasser dead this evening in Elizabeth.
According to NJ Transit officials, the incident happened at approximately 7:19 when the North East Corridor Train number 3175 that departed NY Penn Station at 6:36 p.m. and was scheduled to reach Jersey Avenue in New Brunswick at 7:36
Officials say the train struck an adult male just east of the North Elizabeth train station.
The unidentified male was pronounced dead at the scene according to officials.
Officials say there were no injuries to the 1200 passengers on board the train and there were 45-minute delays in and out of Penn Station.
