Trenton Serial Groper Pleads Guilty

A Trenton man arrested in March 2018 for groping numerous school-aged children in the city pleaded guilty on Tuesday, Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo J. Onofri reported.

Police officials say Carlton Francis, 31, pleaded guilty to six counts of third-degree endangering the welfare of a minor and one count of fourth-degree criminal sexual contact.

According to authorities, the incidents took place between June 2017 and February 2018 in Trenton’s East and West wards.

Under the terms of his plea agreement, Francis will serve five years in state prison and undergo an evaluation at the state Adult Diagnostic and Treatment Center in Avenal.

Officials say he will also be sentenced to parole supervision for life and will have to register as a sex offender under Megan’s Law. Sentencing is scheduled for January 4, 2019.
