Trenton Man Indicted for Murder

Trenton

Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo J. Onofri reported that a Mercer County grand jury returned a three-count indictment last week charging a Trenton man with the shooting death of Zaire Gibbs.

Seth Z. Bowers, 22, of Anderson Street, was indicted on one count of first- degree murder, one count of second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and one count of second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon.

He remains in the Mercer County Correction Center in lieu of $1 million cash only bail.

According to officials, at approximately 3:50 p.m. on June 1, 2016, Bowers shot Gibbs during an altercation in the first block of Washington Street in Trenton.

Gibbs was transported to Capital Health Regional Medical Center where he died the next day as a result of his injuries.

The charges are a result of an investigation by the Mercer County Shooting Response Team and the Mercer County Homicide Task Force. Assistant Prosecutor Kathleen Petrucci presented the case to the grand jury.
