Trenton Man Gets 11 Years for 19-Year-Old's Murder

Trenton

Authorities announced that a 30-year-old Trenton man was sentenced to prison Friday for the death of a 19-year-old male.

According to authorities on June 2013, 19-year-old Rayshawn Ransom, was shot while he was sitting in a car on Passaic Street.

An investigation ensued, leading to the charges against Marquis Skillman, his brother Alton Jones and Dyquise Leonard.

Leonard pleaded guilty to attempted murder. Jones pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated manslaughter last year for both killing Ransom and shooting 19-year-old Tierra Green to death only three days later.

Skillman in addition to his 11-year sentence, he received an additional five years in prison for a gun charge, which will run concurrently, according to officials.

In order to be eligible for parole, Skillman must serve more than nine years in prison before he is eligible for parole.

Mercer County prosecutors believe the shooting was a result of a feud between groups from West State Street and Passaic Street.
