A Trenton man has been arrested and charged in connection with the murder of a city resident whose body was discovered inside a vacant home earlier this year.

According to information released by the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office, Donnell Carmicheal, 38, of Trenton, is charged with first-degree murder in the death of Anthony White, 35, of Trenton.

Authorities said Carmicheal surrendered to the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office on July 1 and is being held at the Mercer County Correction Center.

Prosecutors have filed a motion seeking to keep him detained pending trial. A detention hearing is scheduled for July 17.

Investigators said White was reported missing by family members on March 19, 2026.

On April 1, police responded to a vacant residence on the 400 block of Walnut Avenue, where White was found dead.

An autopsy conducted by the Middlesex County Medical Examiner’s Office determined that White’s death was a homicide caused by blunt force injuries and strangulation.

The investigation was conducted by the Mercer County Homicide Task Force and the Trenton Police Department.

Authorities did not release additional details about the circumstances leading to the arrest.
