Train Fatally Strikes Man in Elizabeth

NJ Transit Police are investigating a train strike that killed a person in Elizabeth Thursday night. 

According to NJ Transit officials, at approximately 10:30 p.m., North Jersey Coast Line train 3284, which departed from Long Branch at 9:12 p.m. and was scheduled to arrive at Penn Station New York at 10:47 p.m., struck and fatally injured an adult male pedestrian just east of North Elizabeth Station.

Officials told RLS Media, there were no injuries reported to the approximately 47 customers or crew onboard the train at the time. 

Northeast Corridor Line and North Jersey Coast Line rail service was suspended between Newark Airport and Linden Station but has since resumed.

New Jersey Transit Police are leading the investigation.
