Traffic Stop Leads to Arrests for Weapons Possession in Cranford

Authorities arrested several people and charged them with weapons possession after their vehicle was pulled over late last night in Cranford.

Police in Cranford on routine patrol at around midnight made a traffic stop for a minor motor vehicle infraction on Westfield Avenue.

According to reports, during the course of the field investigation, cops noticed a weapon later described as a MAC 10 .45 caliber machine gun with multiple rounds of ammunition, and a second weapon that was identified as a taurus .45 caliber handgun that was loaded with ammunition.

Police immediately took the driver, and at least one other suspect into custody.

The suspects were transported to jail and are awaiting a court hearing.
