Track Coach Charged in Berlin Twp. Sexual Assault Case

Camden County Prosecutor Mary Eva Colalillo and Berlin Township Police Chief Leonard Check announced an Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) track coach has been arrested and charged with endangering the welfare of a child and aggravated criminal sexual contact.

Jamal W. Balkman, 36, of Berlin, is charged with second-degree endangering the welfare of a child and third-degree aggravated criminal sexual contact.

The charges were filed on July 6, 2016 by the Camden County Prosecutor’s Special Victims Unit working in conjunction with Berlin Township Police Department, following an investigation into an allegation of the sexual misconduct reported to police earlier that same day.

Bail was set at $250,000 full cash or bond with a Priority IV Bail Condition.
