Toms River Pedestrian Hit By Passing Vehicle, Airlifted To Hospital

A person was airlifted to a hospital suffering severe injuries after they were hit by a van on a Toms River road on Monday morning authorities said.

According to preliminary reports, the incident happened at around midnight, where emergency responders rushed to the vicinity of Massachusetts Avenue and NJ-70 after learning of an injured person struck by a vehicle.

According to police, rescue crews arrived to find the unidentified victim lying on the ground suffering serious injuries when a vehicle struck them at that location.

The victim was flown to Jersey Shore Medical Center where doctors treated severe injuries according to police.

The Toms River Police Traffic Unit is investigating the crash.
