Newark Police Department spokesman Sgt. Ronald Glover announced the arrest of three men on drug and weapons-related charges after tips received.
On Nov. 13, police received an anonymous tip, reporting a man armed with a handgun was seen walking on the 100 block of North Munn Avenue. Arriving officers arrested Lamar K. Bond, 28, of Newark, after he was allegedly found in possession of a fully-loaded 38-caliber gun.
Bond was also found in possession of 48 envelopes of heroin, 21 small ziplock bags of marijuana and dozens of pills.
He was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose and multiple drug-related violations.
Monday at approximately 9 p.m., police responded to the intersection of Hopewell Place and Vermont Avenue for a resident complaints of open-air drug sales.
Police in the area observed a man- later identified as 20-year-old Brevon Brown - attempting to conceal a firearm in his waistband.
After an attempt to discard the weapon, a Brown ensued a short foot pursuit but was taken into custody without incident.
He was charged with unlawful possession of a loaded 25-caliber handgun and resisting arrest.
Hours later, officers were dispatched to Garside Street and 2nd Avenue at approximately 11 p.m. after receiving tips of an armed man.
Upon arrival, officers reportedly found George Crespo, 33, of Newark, in possession of a Colt Air pellet handgun. the statement said.
Crespo was charged with multiple weapons-related offenses.
He was also charged with criminal mischief after he allegedly attempted to break a police car window, while in custody.
