Tip Leads to Arrest of Newark Man Armed in Supermarket

A tip alerting police that an armed man was seen entering a Newark supermarket lead to an arrest Thursday.

Police patrolling the area near the 900 block of Frelinghuysen Avenue responded to the store where police positively identified - based in description provided by the caller - and arrested Darryl Watson, 20, after they recovered a loaded .38-caliber gun.

Watson was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a prohibited weapon.
