An anonymous tip has led Newark police to the arrest of a man found in possession of a loaded handgun.
Christmas day a man - later identified as Kyieem Newsome, 31, of Easton, Pa., was pulled over for a traffic violation after a tip was received that a man seen near the intersection of South Orange Avenue and Brookdale Avenue was armed with a gun.
When responding officers approached vehicle, Newsome allegedly tossed an object (later found to be a loaded .45-caliber automatic handgun) into the back seat.
Newsome was charged with unlawful possession of a handgun, as well as other weapons and motor vehicle offenses. Adding that additional charges could still be filed.
