Newark

A male victim is fighting for his life in a Newark hospital after he was among the injured in a night of shooting violence that targeted three neighborhoods in Newark overnight.

According to authorities, the man was found bleeding after suffering a gunshot wound to the chest when police responded to reports of shots fired that rang out in the area of Stone and 7th Avenue at around 11:35 p.m.

EMS rushed the victim to the hospital where the extent of his injuries were only reported as life threatening according to authorities.

One other victim was transported by private vehicle to University Hospital suffering a non-fatal gunshot wound to the leg and is listed in stable condition. The identity of the second victim has only been reported as a female.

In another shooting incident, a downtown Newark bar became the location of a shooting that sent three people to the hospital after a gunman reportedly sprayed the exterior of the site with bullets early this morning.

According to preliminary reports from the scene, the shooting occurred shortly before 1:30 a.m. just outside **"The Boulevard"** located in the 300 block Mulberry Street rushing over a dozen police and detectives to the scene where they found a male victim suffering a non-life threatening gunshot wound to the leg.

EMS transported the victim to University Hospital where he is expected to survive.

While investigating back at the shooting scene, authorities were notified that two victims walked into University Hospital suffering gunshot wounds. The victims reported to police that they were shot at the Mulberry Street location and were transported by private vehicle.

None of the injured victims from the bar shooting were reported as life-threatening.

There are no immediate reports that the incident originated inside the bar.

The final overnight shooting occurred a short time after the bar shooting and had police in the 500 block of South 19th Street after residents reported hearing multiple gunshots rang out in the area shortly before 1:45 a.m.

Police officers canvassing the scene located evidence that a shooting occurred but no victims were at the scene.

Officials at University Hospital contacted police when two "young" male victims entered the hospital's emergency department, with at least one, suffering gunshot injuries. The extent of the victims' injuries could not be confirmed as of 4 a.m.

There were no arrests in any of the city's overnight shootings.

The overnight shootings, added to three people shot Saturday evening on Central Avenue (including a 6-year-old child), brings the total to about ten (10) shooting victims in less than ten (10) hours in the city.
