Three Plainfield Juveniles Charged in Connection with North Plainfield Robbery

Somerset County officials announced the arrests of three juveniles, ages 14, 15 and 16 from Plainfield for a robbery which occurred in

North Plainfield.

Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson stated that on Thursday, July 23, at approximately 7:43 a.m., North Plainfield Police were contacted by a victim of an assault and robbery.

The investigation revealed that at approximately 5:30 a.m., the male victim reported being assaulted and robbed of his cell phone, wallet and money by five males in the area of Grove Street near the Plainfield City line.

The victim sustained minor injuries and temporarily lost consciousness during the assault. The victim was treated by North Plainfield Emergency Medical Services at the North Plainfield Police Department.

The victim provided a description of the suspects which was broadcasted to North Plainfield Officers.

A North Plainfield Officer on patrol relayed to additional officers that he observed a group of males in the area of Grove Street near the Plainfield City line matching the description provided by the victim.

Prosecutor Robertson stated that a North Plainfield Police detective responded to the aforementioned location and along with the North Plainfield Patrol Officer observed the group of males cross over from Grove Street and engage in a physical altercation with another male victim in the area of Central Avenue and West Front Street.

As the officers approached the suspects and activated their emergency police lights the suspects fled the scene on foot. North Plainfield Police along with Plainfield Police subsequently located and detained the three juveniles in the area of Liberty Village in Plainfield that were involved in the assault and robbery.

The three juveniles were each charged with second-degree Robbery on a Juvenile Delinquency complaint and lodged at the Middlesex County Youth Detention Center pending a family court appearance.
