Pursuit Ends in Crash That Injured Three Long Branch Police Officers

Paterson

Authorities in Long Branch are on the search for three men who were reportedly armed with weapons after they occupied a car that slammed into a police officer on Monday evening.

According to a statement released by Long Branch Police Chief Roebuck, three Long Branch Police Officers were injured following a motor vehicle crash during a vehicle pursuit that occurred at around 8 p.m.

Chief Roebuck said, two detectives were treated and released from Monmouth Medical Center, and the other officer is being held for observation overnight at Jersey Shore Medical Center.

Police say the pursuit started as a result of a drug investigation where officers found the suspects occupying a vehicle at a location in the city.

Authorities say the three suspects in the car fled the scene immediately after the crash on North Lake Drive.

"We have no reason to believe there is any danger to the public, or that the suspects are still in the area. A complete search of the surrounding area was conducted" according to Chief Roebuck.

"Further details will be released when the investigation is completed," Chief Roebuck said.
