Three juvenile suspects were taken into custody Thursday evening following a vehicle pursuit connected to an ongoing shooting investigation in Newark.
According to information released by the Newark Police Department, the incident began around 6:30 p.m. on May 15, when officers spotted a vehicle on the 700 block of South 15th Street that was wanted in connection with a prior shooting.

When officers attempted to stop the vehicle, a short pursuit ensued.
The chase came to a halt when the suspect vehicle abruptly stopped and became disabled, causing a Newark police vehicle to crash into it.
Authorities say three juveniles exited the vehicle and fled on foot, but were quickly apprehended by officers without further incident.
Two officers sustained non-life-threatening injuries in the collision and received medical attention.
The circumstances surrounding the initial shooting and the pursuit are still under active investigation by Newark authorities.
