A deadly shooting early Friday morning has left one man dead and three individuals detained as police continue to investigate a violent incident in the heart of Trenton.
According to preliminary information, gunfire erupted around 12:40 a.m. in the area of 257 Centre Street.
The sudden burst of violence prompted a swift response from over a dozen officers who quickly secured the scene.
Upon arrival, they discovered an unidentified male victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. Despite efforts, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Sources say three individuals were taken into custody shortly after the incident and brought to the local police precinct for questioning.
However, as of 4:30 a.m., the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office had not released any official details regarding charges or the identities of those detained.
The motive behind the shooting remains unknown, and the incident is currently under an active and ongoing investigation.
Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward as the community grapples with yet another act of senseless violence.
