Three Arrests, Two Weapons Confiscated in Newark Police Operation

Newark

Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose reports the arrest of Maurice Crumbley, 37, Jermaine Moody, 19, and a 17-year old male juvenile as part of an operation conducted by the Vice Task Force last night.

“I praise the police and community for working together to rid the street of guns and violence,” Director Ambrose said.

Police say Crumbley was arrested in the 800 block of South 19th Street for possession of a loaded .22 caliber handgun. He faces charges of unlawful possession of a weapon as well as certain persons prohibited from weapon possession.

”Because the handgun was reported stolen out of North Carolina, he further faces a charge of receiving stolen property” Director Ambrose said.

Police arrested Moody in the area of Springfield Avenue and South 19th Street for possession of a loaded .22 caliber handgun.

Police say was also found in possession of 297 vials of cocaine, 15 decks of heroin and 17 bags of marijuana. He faces charges of unlawful possession of a weapon, CDS possession and distribution.

A total of $160.00 was confiscated by detectives as proceeds from drug sales in this incident.

According to police, a 17-year old male was arrested at Avon Avenue and South 20th Street for possession of 63 vials of cocaine and two bags of marijuana.

A total of $1,573.50 was confiscated from this suspect as proceeds from drug sales. He faces charges of CDS possession and distribution.
