Three Arrested for Weapons Possession in Newark

Three people were apprehended after police in Newark recovered two weapons while on patrol in the city's North Ward late Sunday evening, authorities announced.

Officials said police were in the area of Arlington and Wakeman Avenues at around 10 p.m. when they spotted a group of males loitering in a hallway of a building in the 100 block of Wakeman.

Police said, one of the males began to run when he noticed the officers in the area.

A brief pursuit of one of the suspect identified as Braulio Lopez had authorities discover a loaded .380-caliber automatic handgun.

Police also arrested Terrence A. Acevedo, 21, and Hazir Gordon, 18, both waiting in a nearby vehicle in possession of a loaded gun.
