Three-Alarm Rahway Building Fire Under Investigation

There were no serious injuries reported in a fire that ignited inside a building in Rahway early this morning -Thursday-.

Fire broke out on the upper floors of a two-story brick building that has apartments on the top floor and businesses on the ground level in the vicinity of 1565 Irving Street at approximately 4:10 a.m.

Crews arrived at the scene and observed fire coming from an apartment with reports of trapped occupants.

Fast moving firefighters were able to make entrance inside the building where they tackled the blaze; placing it under control in less than an hour.

Thre fire caused significant damage to the apartment, but crews were able to keep it maintained without extensions. A deli suffered some damage due to the fire officials said.

There were several displaced residents reported. The cause remains under investigation.
