Three-Alarm Fire Under Investigation in Newark's South Ward

Fire officials in Newark are investigating a multi-alarm fire that destroyed one home and caused damaged to at least two other in the city's South Ward.

According to preliminary reports, several 911 calls sent firefighters to the 300 block of Clinton Place shortly before 9 p.m. where they observed fire engulfing a building at that location.

Firefighters began to battle intense flames at 392 Clinton Place that was fully involved on arrival.

Heavy fire spread to 390 Clinton Place causing severe damage to that structure and minor damage to 394 Clinton Place.

Firefighters extinguished embers that caused small fires on neighboring streets.

EMS treated several victims suffering minor injuries.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
