Three Admit Fatal Stabbing of New Brunswick Man

Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey said three men pleaded guilty today to a charge of fatally stabbing a New Brunswick man as he sat on the steps of his apartment complex.

The three each admitted to a count of aggravated manslaughter for taking part in the slaying of Enrique Perez Galindo, 29, of New Brunswick.

They are Manuel “Manny” Maldonado, 21, Jose David “Sparky” Vasquez-Rivera, 19, and Xavier “Caballo” Sanchez-Parral, 19, all of New Brunswick.

Under a plea agreement reached with Middlesex County Assistant Prosecutor Scott Lamountain, Maldonado will be sentenced to a prison term of 25 years, while Vasquez-Rivera and Sanchez-Parral will be sentenced to 20-year terms.

They are scheduled to be sentenced in New Brunswick by Superior Court Judge Pedro Jimenez on January 12, 2018.

The three defendants were charged during an intensive investigation into the death of the victim, who was stabbed outside his apartment on Hamilton Street in New Brunswick on February 25, 2017.

The victim managed to return to his apartment, where he died.

The defendants were charged during the investigation by Detective Drew Weiss of the New Brunswick Police Department and Detective David Abromaitis of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office.
