Police in Newark are investigating a threat that led to a lockdown at American History High School on Tuesday afternoon.
According to authorities, the incident unfolded shortly before 3 p.m.—around dismissal time—when school administration and security received a phone call threatening to “shoot up the school.”
The school is located in the 70s block of Montgomery Street.

Newark Police officers, along with Emergency Services Units, quickly responded to the scene. Approximately a dozen officers secured the area and conducted an investigation, which lasted about 20 minutes.
Following a thorough search, staff and students were safely dismissed. No injuries were reported, and officials have not disclosed the source of the call.
The investigation remains active, and as of Tuesday evening, no arrests had been made.
