Threat to Kill Asbury Park Police Officer Ends in Raid, Arrests

Monmouth County authorities took several men into custody after they obtained a credible threat that a Bloods Gang member would kill an Asbury Park Police Officer.

According to a statement released by police, a result of an investigation in which a local Blood gang member, **Mr. Salik Hinton** allegedly told several individuals that he was plotting to kill an Asbury Park police officer, a joint effort by the Monmouth County prosecutor's office, Monmouth County Sheriff, department, Neptune Township Street crimes unit, and MOCERT raided an Asbury Park residence.

Police said onFriday, at approx 430am, they executed a high-risk search warrant in the 600 block of Church Street which resulted in the arrest and charges against the following individuals:

**Mr. Salik Hinton, 28,** charged with Possession of Defaced Firearm, Certain Person, Unlawful Poss. Weapon, Possession. CDS (cocaine/prescription pills). He was also found to have an active warrant out of the city.

**Mr. Willie Clark, 32,** charged with Possession of Defaced Firearm, Certain Person, Unlawful Poss. Weapon, Poss. CDS (cocaine/prescription pills).

**Ms. Shakira Smith, 31,** Possession of Defaced Firearm, Unlawful Poss. Weapon, Poss. CDS (cocaine/prescription pills), and Endangering the Welfare of a Minor (2 counts).

Police said Clark and Smith are Asbury Park residents and Hinton is from Neptune.

Authorities conducted a search warrant at Hinton’s parent's residence in Neptune and recovered paraphernalia indicative of drug distribution and a total of $2,435.00 cash as proceeds from drug transactions.

The investigation is active and ongoing.

Police also noted that along with weapons, drugs, and cash seized, they found a Cannondale bike valued over $800 in which one of the defendants admitted they had bought from a drug addict on the streets for $5.
