Authorities have arrested the third and final suspect in an armed robbery that took place in Montclair on June 1, 2025.
Nineteen-year-old Christopher Gomez of Jersey City was taken into custody early Tuesday morning, July 8, at his residence on Pamrapo Avenue.
The arrest was the result of a joint effort between the Montclair Police Department, the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office, and the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force.
Gomez’s alleged accomplices, 18-year-old Wesley Garcia of Jersey City and 19-year-old Kirvin De La Rosa of Edwardsville, Pennsylvania, were previously arrested on June 5 at a Bayonne motel following an intense investigation involving surveillance and multiple search warrants.
The incident occurred when a 37-year-old Montclair woman was walking her dog along North Willow Street and was approached by two males who exited a dark-colored Acura.
One of the men displayed a handgun and demanded the woman’s belongings, forcibly removing her necklace before fleeing the scene in the vehicle.
The Acura was later found abandoned in Jersey City.
The investigation not only linked Gomez, Garcia, and De La Rosa to the Montclair robbery, but also connected them to additional armed robberies in Union, Elizabeth, and Jersey City.
All three suspects are facing multiple charges, including armed robbery, conspiracy to commit armed robbery, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and receiving stolen property.
They have been remanded to the Essex County Detention Facility pending further legal proceedings.
