Newark

By: Richard L. Smith

Police in Newark are looking for an armed suspect who fired multiple rounds in a Central Ward community Monday night.

In the third city-wide shooting in less than three hours, police were dispatched to the Bruce Street and 15th Avenue area after a ShotSpotter device detected about nine rounds of gunfire shortly before midnight.

Police arrived and found several shell casings, but no injuries were reported after cops checked the area.

Authorities have not confirmed if the Central Ward shooting is connected with gunfire erupted on Johnson Avenue and a shooting on Elizabeth Avenue overnight.

No injuries or arrests were reported.
