Police in Newark's East Ward are on the search for a thief who jumped into a vehicle left running with a teenaged boy inside Tuesday.
Officers were called to the vicinity of Ferry and Congress streets to take a report of a stolen vehicle around 9 p.m.
Police arrived and began a search for a gray 2012 Nissan Murano with reported NJ license plate numbers "L31MYH" taken at that location.
An investigation revealed that a thief lurking in the area jumped inside the vehicle occupied by a 14-year-old boy.
The teen managed to jump out of the car just as the suspect sped away from the scene.
Police say the suspect remains at large and no physical injuries have been reported.
